Adobe Acrobat Reader DC version 2020.009.20063 - After already going through Accessibility Setup Assistant, when attempting to launch Read Out Loud there is an error message shown of "no US English voice available on this system".  This is being seen on multiple systems.

This is a vital component for users with limited vision.

Yes.  This issue is ongoing and adding new voices in the system settings did not help.

I am having this issue as well. I have the English - United States voice installed on my computer. I have Windows 11. I cannot get my PDFs to read aloud because it won't let me access a voice even if I choose the option to not use the default voice.

Hi @taylor_2142

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

Could you please confirm the exact language of the document you're working on?

The "Read Out Loud" feature in Adobe Acrobat automatically selects the system's default language and its corresponding "Narrator" voice. To ensure that the narration matches your document’s language, you may need to verify and adjust your system's Narrator settings.

Here’s how you can do that:

  1. Go to Windows Settings.
  2. Navigate to Ease of Access.
  3. Select Narrator.
  4. Under the section Choose a Voice, review the available options.

Please check these settings to see if the appropriate language option is available. If adjusting these settings doesn’t resolve the issue, let us know so we can assist further.

I know my PDF is in US English because I exported it from InDesign as such (see attached). I have multiple Narrator voices installed on my computer that are in US English (see attached). When I am in Adobe, none of them show up for me to select from (see attached).  No matter what Narrator voice I set as the default in my settings, I still get the same "No US English voice available on this system" message.

I also have this issue. I have "microsoft guy" installed and selected in my Windows 11 accessibility settings and there are several other UK and US voice packages installed on my system. I have disabled new acrobat reader in an attempt to resolve the issue but it hasn't made any difference. I still get the same error message as KDean7

Hello has anybody figured this out? I am using mac OS on a mac mini, and I get the same error "there is no english voice installed on this machine". It is just past the new year into 2025, I see most of this was active in AUG '24, so was curious if anyone found a solution... and/or fix. THANK YOU!! =D. -Brett

Hi Brett! I never received an answer from the Adobe team and never found a fix myself. Still waiting to hear back.
