I am trying to open a .pdf, but it keeps telling me I don't have Reader 8. I have Pro DC. Doesn't that supersede Reader 8? And if not, if I download Reader 8, will it mess up my DC functionality?

Hi Paulr,

Thank you for reaching out. As described above, you are experiencing issues while reading / viewing the PDF file, correct?

  • Is that a behavior with all the files you try to open or is it with a particular file?
  • Are you trying to open the PDF file in a web browser?
  • Are the files present locally on your computer or are they at shared network?

If the files are on a shared network, please try to download the file to your computer and try to open it.

You may also try the troubleshooting steps provided in the help article - https://helpx.adobe.com/in/acrobat/kb/cant-view-pdf-web.html

If it still doesn't work,
