This morning, an auto-update occurred to 2018.011.20040. NO WAY am I allowing ANY auto-updates on MY computer. It took two hours, but I managed to work out how to stop future updates from occurring automatically. Now, I want to roll back the version to 2018.011.20038, more out of spite than anything else. I might even manually update afterwards, so this might seem like a childish request, but frankly I don't care, its my computer, I get to say what does and doesn't happen on it.

You aren’t talking to Adobe here, it’s not *my* product. Download Acrobat 2017 Release (Classic Track base release) — Release Notes for Acrobat DC Products  but be sure you understand the difference between Reader and Acrobat as it links to both and Acrobat costs.

Reader will now update automatically That’s why it’s calked “continuous”.  To stop that you have to install the “classic“ version instead.

After wasting another two hours trying to find this "Classic" version and continually being pushed to a DC download...can you please provide a link?

Follow up question. Why do you have two versions in the first place? It makes no sense as far as I can see.

Thanks for clearing that up, and it is as I suspected. Adobe: "You can have a free version, but on the condition that we get unfettered access to your computer and all its private data. We say we're only going to use it for updates, please trust us." Well, we used to have a free copy of Acrobat, and you took it away, without telling us the truth about what you were doing. Adobe, you can go PDF off!
