Reader DC show's only white page

Hi all

since 5 years we create PDF files from our application using QuickPDF.

The latest Adobe Reader version (2018.009020044) has a strange behaviour.

It doesn't show any content and the AcroRD32.exe process do not close properly when closing the Reader file.

It just keeps running in the background.

It seems, that it's only a problem in the this version (2018.009020044) all earlier version do not have any issues with the PDF we create.

Also Firefox / Chrome handle it correctly

The issue occurs in Windows 7 and Windows 10 x64.

Anyone else that have had issues with the newest version?

Any help would be highly appreciated?

Hi Anand Sri,

thanks for reactivating Reader XI on the download-page.

So my users can download Reader XI again and the issue is gone.

Please let me know, when there is a new version of DC,

which can handle my PDF properly.

kind regards

Hello Edv-rtv,

As per the description above, you are getting a White Page when you launch the Reader DC, Is that correct?

If you are getting a Blank PDF page when you open any PDF file, then please try the following steps:

Navigate to Edit>Preferences>General and uncheck these two options:

Restart the computer and check.

If you are getting Blank Whitepage when you launch the Reader, then please repair the installation files of Reader from Helo>Repair installation files. After the Repair, restart  the computer.

Is it happening with all the PDF files or with one PDF file, if it's one PDF file, then please share the PDF file with us so that we can review, to share the PDF file you can refer to  How to share a document  Link: https://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-7161

Or you can share the PDF file via private message, to send private message, refer to How Do I Send Private Message  Link: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1184148

Hope this helps, and let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Anand Sri.

Winfried,

I reviewed the file and was able to fix/see the PDF file which you shared using the Acrobat. It seems to be a font issue with the PDF file.

If you have Acrobat, then please try the following steps:

  • Open the PDF file in Acrobat.
  • Choose Optimize PDF from Tools.
  • Choose Preflight.
  • In the Preflight menu, > Profiles,> Under PDF fixups> Highlight Convert fonts to outlines>Click on Analyze and fix.

  • Save the PDF file.
  • Open the PDF and you will be able to see the content of the PDF file.

were you able to open/view this PDF file earlier with other versions  of Adobe Reader? Is the issue with this PDF only or with other PDFs as well? If possible, share other PDF files if you are facing the issue.

I have shared  the corrected PDF file via Private message, please check your email inbox.

Regards,

Anand Sri.

Hi Anand Sri

all my files created by our application have this effect with Reader DC.

I can turn my filecreation to imagebased. Then it's shown correct, but you cannot search any more.

This cannot be the solution.

On the other hand, the file can be opened i.e. with Adobe Reader XI.

Also in the browsers from Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome .

It seems to be only an issue with latest Reader DC.

(Even DC 2017.012.20098 could open it)

The fonts used in the file are:

- TrueType: Arial, Arial Bold, Helvetica

- Adobe: System, MSSansSerif

I think, they are not so strange.

May be it's a referencing issue in DC.
