Hello Etapaul,
we're sorry for the trouble you had with Adobe Reader, with the description shared above, I can understand that Adobe Reader DC is crashing after launch, Is that correct?
What is the version of the Windows OS installed? What is the version of Adobe Reader installed? To identify the current verison, please refer to the steps from the article Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC
If Adobe Reader stays and does not crash immediately, please check for any pending updates of Adobe Reader from help menu>check for updates, reboot the machine after installing the updates and check.
For testing purpose, please disable any security software installed.
Navigate to Adobe Reader's preferences from Edit>Preferences>Security(Enhanced) and disable 'Enable Protected Mode at startup' and 'Enhanced Security'>Click OK and restart the application and check.
Note: Disabling the Protected Mode and Enhanced Security is only for testing purpose, please enable it back.
Let us know how it goes and share your observation.
Thanks,
Anand Sri.

Hi Anand Sri,
Thank you for a fast response.
Once again I removed DC, ran CCleaner and installed DC again but all in vain.
Windows 10 64bit, 1809 all the updates.
Cannot get the version of DC from DC as it flashes away but the file says Adobe 19.8.20071.41678 20-09-2018 Dutch.
The desktop link doesn't work.
Norton for the security just as on my old desktop where DC is working.
Will keep on testing but a little help would be usefull
