reader preventing download in Whatsapp

I am on a Samsung Galaxy 9 Android using Whatsapp. Someone sent me a Doc file but I chose , stupidly, to try and open it as a pdf. I have acrobat reader installed on my phone but the free version. Now when I click on the document I am taking to an adobe screen that is trying to upsell Adobe products and cannot download, access or read the document as there is no way to get off the Adobe screen. Thanks
