Reader version 2018.011.20036 won't open old PDFs (version 1.1)

Hi, after the update to 2018.011.20036, our Adobe Reader installation won't open certain PDFs generated by software that my clients use. When trying to open, we get an "Error 109" - Object label badly formatted.

I downloaded and installed Adobe Reader XI (version 11.0.10) and am able to open these PDFs. When I look at the document properties I see that the PDFs that won't open are PDF version 1.1 (Acrobat 2.x). Is there any chance that this could be patched in any future updates? We'd rather keep using our current version of Reader, but will look at alternatives if not.

Thanks!

Jim

Most likely Acrobat is checking for errors more carefully and rejecting bad files that slipped by before. Can you share one publicly?

And by the way if you need a quick solution you should probably report it to Adobe. Don’t expect feedback from them, so an investigation here is probably worthwhile.
