Received PDF shows "Font contains bad /widths"

Hi everyone,

We are having some issues with a few of our receiving PDF-files.

We are using SAP which as an integration with Adobe Reader. Some of our partners which send us quotes show up with the following error in Adobe Reader.

(latest example):

"The font 'DEVEXP+Arial' contains bad /widths"

When we use the integrated PDF reader from Microsoft for troubleshooting, the PDF shows up just fine. The issue is only present in Adobe Reader

As we do not have control over the sending side, resolving this would preferably be done on our end so that we can open and view these PDF files correctly.

Any help would be much appreciated.

With kind regards

There's nothing you can do to solve this issue in Reader. It has to be solved by the person creating the files.

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. AS described you are getting the error 'Font contains bad /widths'

- Would you mind sharing how these PDFs are created? Please ask your partners to create the PDF using Adobe Acrobat DC application and see if that works.

Also, please check out the correct answer marked in a similar discussion https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat/getting-quot-bad-widths-quot-errors-using-adobe-acrobat-dc-2019/m-p/10780894 and see if that helps.

Regards

Amal
