Safari extension for Adobe Reader not working properly

I have generated a link to a specific page in an Adobe PDF document, which I am linking to from a website that I manage using Safari as my browser. Problem is it only opens the PDF document at page 1, not the specified page.

It works perfectly fine in Google Chrome. I need a fix for this, as other Safari users are experiencing the same problem. I've logged a job with Apple Support, and they've come back to me saying their engineers can't do anything, it's a problem with the Safari extension for Adobe Reader.

Can someone help me please / tell me how I can contact Adobe to log this as a problem with them?

Thanks,

Gill.

Hi GIll,

The settings are for Adobe Flash Player. Can you check the same for Adobe Reader too and share the screenshot.

Soumik

Hi Gill,

Can you share with us the link to the specific page in the PDF document?

Also let us know your Reader, Acrobat(if any), safari versions.

Hi Soumik,

Here's the link: http://www.frrr.org.au/resources/FRRR_AR-15-16-lores.pdf#page=17

I'm using Safari 10.0.3, Adobe Reader version 2015.023.20056.

But I'm talking about whatever the extension is that allows me to open PDF files within Safari, not separately in Adobe Reader.

Cheers,

Gill.

Hi,

I have tried with Reader 2015.023.20056 on safari 10.0.1 and I can see the PDF opens at page 17. If I uninstall Reader and then try to open the PDF it starts at page 1. So I believe the plug-in is working correctly.

Hi Soumik. I'm using the 2017 version of Adobe Reader:

And it doesn't work. Can you please try with this version of Reader?

Thanks,

Gill.

Hi Gill,

I have tried with the Reader version you mentioned and I am able to directly open Page 17.

Meanwhile can you verify whether the Reader plugins are enabled for Safari.

Go to Safari > Preferences > Security tab > plug-ins setting.

Make sure its checked and drop-downs are set to "on"

Hi Soumik, and thanks again for coming back to me. These are my settings:

I can't see an option for safari-extensions.apple.com. How do I add this?

Gill.

Sorry, file upload didn't work. Now attached, along with screen shot from Safari Extensions page, when I searched for Adobe.

Hi Gill,

Can you make it "On" for all the websites along with for "When visiting other websites" options too.

After that can  you try with this sample link. It should take you to page 3 of the PDF file.

http://www.pdf995.com/samples/pdf.pdf#page=3

Share with us the plug-in screenshot again if the issue persists.

Hi Soumik,

All set to on, and still goes to page 1, not page 3. See image below re: plug-in settings.

OK, thanks for picking that up. I've made the changes as requested:

I'm not sure what that error message means - is it significant?

But guess what? IT'S WORKING! Both links (http://www.pdf995.com/samples/pdf.pdf#page=3 and http://www.frrr.org.au/resources/FRRR_AR-15-16-lores.pdf#page=17) took me through to the correct page number in the PDF document.

Thanks so much for your patience and perseverance Soumik.

Gill.

That's great Gill.

The error message you have shared is just a 'Warning' thrown by Safari for thirty party plugins. You can ignore that.
