Save changes Acrobat Reader

Hello all,

When I open a file in Acrobat Reader and want to close it without modifying anything on it, the software asks me “Do you want to save changes before closing?”.

Why does this happen?

Also, how could I fix it so that it doesn't ask me if I want to save when I haven't modified anything?

So these are corrupted files then.  And the only way to prevent that is to tell the issuer that they have a problem, which they will probably ignore anyway.  I have noticed them from several issuers, most recently (several months in a row) from Verizon for a phone/internet bill.

Another option is that those files contain a script that makes some changes to them automatically when they are opened, such as filling in a field with the current date. That would also prompt Reader to ask you if you want to save the file when closing it, as it will be considered to have been modified.
