Question

Scanned (portrait) page to PDF appears in landscape with a lot of white space

Hi,

When I use a handheld scanner (skypix) to scan a book page (portrait) a landscape PDF document is created with a half of the page (on the right) being just a white space (which I, of course, haven't scanned). How can I get PDF document in portrait orientation? Just to clarify, I cannot make this change in the scanner itself.

Thank you

Just to clarify, I cannot make this change in the scanner itself.

Does the scanner have software to refine the results post-scan? If not, the only alternative that I know of is to use Adobe Acrobat (not the free Adobe Reader) to crop the page to the correct size and orientation after you finish the scan.

Thanks BarbBinder for responding. It is handheld scanner that does not have a software to make changes post-scan. However, if I use a JPEG option, the orientation is  correct, as in the original (portrait). Only if I use a PDF option the orientation is changed to landscape (and the text shrinks to fit half of the page).
