Hi F1jim,
As you are experiencing issue in installing Adobe Acrobat Reader DC on Windows machine, try th troubleshooting steps mentioned here Troubleshoot Adobe Acrobat Reader installation | Windows.
If that does not help, run the cleaner tool Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs and restart your machine.
Then try to install the application from here Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution.
Check if that resolves the issue.
Let us know if you still experience the issue in installing the application.

I follow your suggestions perfectly. I run the cleaner tool successfully, I download and run the install file and it seems to extract fine. But quickly after starting the install I get an Error #1305. It says it can't read the msi file and asks to retry or cancel. Retry fails. So does running the install file again.
Next?
