Stop virus scanning each time I save a document to the cloud

Is there a way to stop this? I disabled enhanced security and it still happens. It takes forever to save any documents and its annoying as it does virus scanning every time.

Hello @Martaz

I hope you're doing well, and we apologize for the delayed response and the trouble.

When you save a file to Adobe Document Cloud, Acrobat may trigger:

  • Local antivirus software (like Windows Defender or third-party tools)
  • Adobe’s own cloud-side security checks, which are automatic and cannot be disabled
  • Enhanced Security settings

These checks are designed to protect your files and Adobe’s cloud infrastructure, but they can slow things down, especially with large or complex PD

Acrobat doesn't do virus checking so far as I know. It may be your antivirus. If not sure, please show the message you get.

It gets stuck here for like 5 minutes then says saved successfully. It is really annoying waiting so long to save a file when I need to move b/w different devices.

These checks are designed to protect your files and Adobe’s cloud infrastructure, but they can slow things down, especially with large or complex PDFs. What You Can Try:
Save Locally First, Then Upload Manually. Save the file to your desktop or local drive. Then upload it to Acrobat Online services via https://adobe.ly/43OnfUZ
This avoids triggering the automatic scan during the save process.

Temporarily Disable Local Antivirus (for testing only). If you’re using third-party antivirus software, try disabling it briefly to see if it’s the source of the delay. If performance improves, you can add Acrobat or the cloud save path to your antivirus’s exclusion list.

Add exclusions for:

  • C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe

  • Your cloud sync folder (e.g., C:\Users\YourName\Adobe\Acrobat\DC\Cloud)

  • Any temporary folders used by Acrobat (%TEMP%)

For Windows Defender:

  • Go to Windows Security > Virus & Threat Protection > Manage settings > Exclusions

Note: There is currently no official Adobe setting that disables virus scanning when saving to the Adobe Document Cloud because these scans are part of your operating system or antivirus, not Acrobat itself.

I hope this information helps, and feel free to reach out if you need any assistance.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.
