Suggestion for Improving Traditional Chinese OCR Accuracy in Acrobat
Dear Adobe Team,
I’m a lawyer in Taiwan and a long-time user of Adobe Acrobat Pro. First of all, I want to express my appreciation for the Acrobat ecosystem—it has become an essential part of my daily workflow across mobile, desktop, and cloud platforms. The seamless integration with Google Drive, Adobe Scan, and desktop OCR tools has greatly streamlined my document processing tasks.
That said, I’ve noticed that the OCR accuracy for Traditional Chinese in Acrobat still has some room for improvement. While it works decently with standard printed fonts, it struggles with older typesetting, legal documents, vertical layouts, and names with uncommon characters. These are very common in court files and scanned government documents in Taiwan.
I truly hope Adobe can enhance the OCR engine’s support for Traditional Chinese—perhaps by incorporating more region-specific language models or expanding the training set.
We in Taiwan are loyal users of Adobe products. A better OCR experience for Traditional Chinese would not only improve efficiency for legal and academic professionals, but also show Adobe’s care for its global user base.
Thank you for all your hard work, and I look forward to seeing continued improvements in this area.
Warm regards,
Lin, Weihan
Attorney at Law, Taiwan
