Hi - please advise how I deal with this

"The document you are trying to load requires Adobe Reader 8 or higher. You may not have the
Adobe Reader installed or your viewing environment may not be properly configured to use
Adobe Reader."

Ok, here is a picture showing this sort of thing in a Chrome browser. You can see the document with the message. Look for the download button at the top of the page - I've drawn a red box around it.

1. Download the file you see (the one with that message - it is still a document you can download). Download it to your desktop.

2. Start Acrobat Reader in the usual way (not by double clicking on a PDF).

3. Use Open from the File menu to open that PDF file you downloaded above.

thanks - but I can't - the pdf that I'm trying to view is not a file that I can download, it's a link from a webpage.

I currently have Reader DC.  Can anyone confirm that this is a higher version that Reader 8?

Yes DC is much newer. You can and must download the file. So we can help you do that, please tell us your web browser.

When I go to the Adobe site and follow the links for Free Downloads, etc, I get a message "Newer version already installed"
