Visio 2010 hyperlinks not working when converting to PDF

New Here ,
Jul 09, 2018 Jul 09, 2018

Hi

I use MS Visio 2010 to create business process maps and then convert them to PDF to publish on our internal management system. I create hyperlinks in Visio so that users can move easily between the different pages of the process maps but sometimes one or more of the hyperlinks is not carried across to the PDF. I've tried updating to the latest version of Acrobat and creating a new version of the Visio process map having deleted and re-created all the hyperlinks. I've also tried turning off the 'Relative Hyperlinks' option in Visio.

Has anyone else had the same issue and managed to fix it?

Many thanks in advance

Gary

Hello Gary,

We're sorry for the trouble you had with the hyperlinks not working in a PDF created from Visio 2010.

Please refer to the following Adobe discussions and try the suggestions marked as helpful and correct

Can Visio hyperlinks to subaddresses be maintained when converting to PDF?

Microsoft Visio 2016 - PDFMaker support

What it the dot version of Adobe Reader installed? To identify refer to Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

Is it a Mac or Windows machine and what is the version of OS installed?

Is it possible to share the file with us so that we can test it at our end? To share the file please use Adobe Send feature, upload the file, share the link to files via private message only, How Do I Send Private Message

Let us know how it goes and share your observation.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

Hi

Thank you for your quick response.

The version is 2017.011.30080 and we are running Windows 7 (still!!). I'm afraid I can't send you the file for security reasons but if you can identify any potential fixes from the information supplied I will be very grateful.

I spoke to a colleague who was having the same issue and their solution is to avoid creating any hyperlinks in the original Visio drawing until they are happy that is the final version before converting to PDF. It appears that the problem may occur when updates to the sub-address hyperlinks have been made within the original Visio so I would be interested if anyone else has reported similar behaviour.

Thanks once again

Gary

Hi Gary,

Sorry for the delayed response and inconvenience caused, download and install the latest patch of Adobe Reader from 17.011.30099 Planned update, August 14, 2018 — Release Notes for Acrobat DC Products and see if the issue still persists.

I have also shared some steps and workaround by private message, please try the steps and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for your time and patience thus far.
