Why is Acrobat Pro 2020 so laggy while scrolling on Macbook Pro 2020?

I know this is similar questions have been asked before, but most of the discussions are full of people echoing that they have the same problem, and Adobe employees suggesting solutions that evidently don't work for many (me included). So I wanted to check if any new solution has emerged. It scrolls in an incredibly laggy fashion irrespective of the file size and the number of tabs opened at once. My computer doesn't have the Disable new Acrobat option which has been suggested a few times. I have also tried the method of changing security settings without any improvement. I would rather not go through the entire uninstalling and reinstalling process again because I tried that and saw no change, and it was a pain. Specs of Acrobat and the Macbook are below:

Thanks for reaching out and providing a detailed description and related information. Sorry for the troubled experience. 

 

Since I am not sure what all things have been tested at your end. I would suggest the following: 

 

Launch Acrobat > Acrobat > Preferences: 

1.  Uncheck “Use Page Cache”: Preferences → Page Display → Rendering > Page Cache. 

2. Disable enhancements like smooth lines: Preferences → Page Display > Line/Vector Rendering

 

3. Set Single Page Continuous: View → Page Display → Layout

 

4. Reduce Zoom Level: Set Zoom to ≤ 100% when scrolling

 

5. Avoid Search Bar While Scrolling: Close search bar while scrolling

 

 

If this issue has started some time ago and wasn't reproducible all the time, you may try resetting preferences: https://adobe.ly/46JpY3Z

 

Also, if the files are located on Cloud Drives or network drives, try copying them locally and check again. 

 

If the issue is still reproducible, help us with diagnostic logs and screen recording of the issue: 

To collect the logs:

  1. Download and run the Diagnostics Utility from:  https://adobe.ly/4mwr6ww
  2. Click on Start Diagnostics. Ensure advanced logging is checked.
  3. Launch Acrobat, reproduce the issue with your file.
  4. Once done, click Stop Monitoring.
  5. Copy the Log ID and share it with us.

Hi Tariq

I tried all the page layout suggestions you had. The cache option was already unchecked, but I did uncheck the other enhancement boxes, & there was no change. I did 75% magnification,  haven't had the search bar open, no change. Re:diagnostics, I opened the instructions page linked & in the Mac section the first one is open the hamburger menu. I don't see the hamburger menu on my screen. See attached file.

The link provided above also allows you to download the diagnostic tool. I assumed you were using a Windows machine, hence the hamburger icon. The article provides suggestions for both Mac and Windows systems.
