I created a PDF from my Excel Worksheet. It contained another PDF of a word document. Now it won't allow me to open the embedded object. Ideas for a fix???

Your title and body appear to say different things, so please clarify:

  • You can't open the Excel PDF?
    or
  • You can't open the embedded PDF of the Word document that is inside the Excel PDF?

How did you embed the Word PDF into the Excel PDF?

How many pages is the Word PDF and why does it need to be embedded instead of combined into one PDF?

HI Jane

Sorry for the confusion here. I converted an excel document to a PDF.  I wanted to embed another document from Word as a Object into the first PDF. I was able to bring up the embedded document in the Excel document before conversion to a PDF, but once it was converted it wouldn't open the embedded document at all.

Then I tried converting the Excel spreadsheet to a PDF first, but it wouldn't allow me to embed anything.

I've since discovered Adobe will sell me an option that allows me to embed one PDF converted document into another.  Sounds expensive...

Cheers

Maureen

Here's another idea:

  • Would it work if you took a picture of the Word element (Snipping tool or other software) and inserted the picture into Excel before you made the PDF?

  • Or does the Word part have to remain text? If so, you might be able to copy it into a text box in Excel and resize and move it and position it where you want it.
