Windows 10 March 2017 update blocks Reader DC

Since my latest Windows 10 update, v1607, build 14393.953 - Adobe Reader DC will not work. When I try to open it, it just closes. I've had to revert back to reader 11.

It just seems to block the program from opening, whether I try to open a PDF file or go the program from the menu, it simply won't open.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times, no joy.

Reader 11 is working fine, so I'm not really bothered about this now, I just thought I'd report it.

    Hi k@mt,

    Sorry for the delay in response. 

    Ideally, this should not be happening at all. It is almost impossible to have two versions of Reader installed on the same machine. 

    Or reverting back to the previous version. 

    I would suggest using Reader cleaner tool: Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs  uninstall Reader, restart your machine and try again.

    I'm not sure why this has been marked as the correct answer? You've misunderstood I think, or I didn't explain properly more likely ;-).

    What I meant, is that since I couldn't get Reader DC to work permanently, I uninstalled it and installed XL instead - I didn't mean that I was running them both at the same time on the same machine.

    Anyway, after a week or so of using XL, that has done exactly the same thing, so I'm back to square one.

    It's not just my machine, we had a new machine installed a couple of weeks ago, the same is happening with that machine. Very strange.

    For now we've turned off automatic adobe updates as someone in another thread mentioned that that fixed the issue for them.
