Hello,

We have many users getting this problem. We have Acrobat Standard 9 installed on all of our computers. Some have installed Acrobat reader XI and I am not sure why. I suspect they were prompted somehow.

After the intsall we can no longer open up pdfs within IE9.

I have uninstalled reader XI and did a repair on Standard 9 but it still does not fix the problem.

There error message we are getting is this:

"The Adobe Acrobat/Reader selected for viewing PDF documents in browsers cannot be found at its installed location; it may habe been moved or deleated. Please reinstall or repair this application. (15:524)

Please help. We can no longer do our banking web sites.

Thank you,

I am facing a similar issue.  I am testing a link that should open in an adobe reader through web but no reader was displayed in IE 9 only but the rest of the browsers i.e Chrome, Firefox, IE7-8, Safari it's working fine.

What is the value in your registry hive for the below key?

    HKEY_Classes_Root\Software\Adobe\Acrobat\Exe

You can reinstall Reader and give ownership to Reader 11 and then check the value for same registry key.

You can also try  repair for the application.

    Same problem here.

You need to go into the following registry key:

    HKEY_Classes_Root\Software\Adobe\Acrobat\Exe

Change the 10.0 to 11.0 and you should be back in business.

    Bimmer007,

Thanks this worked fine. Reinstalling works sometimes but not all of the time.  Seems like something has that registry key locked and will not update it.

It turns out that it has caused another probme as well.  I will post it as a separate topic now.

    Thanks again,
