Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Newer version already installed, Error 1722

Hi, All,

Trying to install Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (Version 2019.012.20036) on a Windows 8 HP Laptop. I disabled my Anti-Virus software (Avast). It goes thru the installation process and at the end it gives me an error message, "Adobe Acrobat Reader DC: Newer version already installed." Then when I click the finish button, the installer takes me to an Adobe web page with the message, "Adobe Acrobat Reader DC did not install successfully."

I tried to remove Reader through Control Panels/Programs and Featuresbut it is NOT in the list of installed programs. At this
point I am completely without Adobe Reader.

I'm stumped!

I am growing to truly hate adobe reader.  I have spent hours trying to install it.  I originally had some form of adobe reader on my computer but it didn't let me copy and/or take a snap-shot. I therefore uninstalled it and then went to adobe to install again (looking for a version that was different).  When I tried I was told that a newer version was already on my machine. I followed the answer above and used the cleaner tool and then re-started but I am still told that I already have a newer version on my machine. I have looked in my program files and can see no adobe folder.  This is driving me mad.

I have exactly the same problem.

I have used Revo uninstaller and the Adobe cleaner tool to remove any remnants of Acrobat Reader (or any Adobe products) and I still get the sae error message as you. I have Windows 8.1.
