I am trying to pass search keywords by launching adobe reader
on the command line.
In Adobe Reader DC(Ver 2017.009.20044 on Windows7 SP1),
specify the search keyword from the command line as follows,
Application error occurs when starting up.
AcroRd32.exe / A "search=keyword1" "sample.pdf"
In Adobe Reader XI, this command works correctly, the search pane is
displayed with the keyword specified on the command line,
and the PDF opens.
I would like to know method for proper operation in Adobe Reader DC.
Thanks.

These things seem to work less and less well, but you might try removing the space between "/" and "A".

Sorry, the space between "/ A" of the last post was a typo. Even if "/A" (with no space), the result will not change.

Hello everybody,
i'm having the same problem with DC version and Windows 10.
Has you solved the issue?
Thank you for the help.

I can confirm I too get a crash in Acrord32.exe even if I use the exact documented form
AcroRd32.exe /A search="keyword1" "sample.pdf"
Seems like a bug. How many of you have reported it, Adobe probably don't even know about it?

I'm writing to Adobe Customer Care about the issue. For now I came back to the XI version and all is working.

It will do no good contacting customer care, since they won't help with free products. Unless you can reproduce it with Acrobat Pro: that would be valuable.

Here we are the answer from Adobe Customer Care:
"Hello, This is a known issue and is being worked upon. The fix most likely will be available in next quarterly update patch. ^TD"
We will wait for the new release to solve our problem. ![]()
