Installation issues with mac book air 2011

I have a mac book air 2011 and I have been able to use adobe reader all this time but now I am not able to read anything. I removed the previous download and downloaded again and It displays a message: Found a higher version Adobe acrobat reader in the installation location. Installation will terminate. I need help.

• Please remove the application using the Adobe Acrobat Cleaner Tool- https://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
• Reboot the computer
• Reinstall the application using the link  - https://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
