Issue Opening & Saving PDF in Reader - Will not save data (blank copy only error)

New Here ,
Sep 04, 2020 Sep 04, 2020

Got a PDF signed in Adobe Sign. Tried to then open/save in Adobe Reader (free version), and get the error that "data typed into this form will not be saved. adobe acrobat reader can only save a blank copy of this form"

Had user uninstall and reinstall Reader. Still having the issue.

User tried different computer, issue does not occur. I tested with the same 3 documents causing the error, and did not have an issue on my computer. So it is with the local install of this users Reader it seems. What else can I do besides an uninstall/reinstall or repair - both of which I already tried?

Error screenshot attached as well for reference.

Thanks!

Can you share the actual file with us?

You can attach it to the original message using the tiny paperclip icon at the bottom when you edit it, or upload it to a file-sharing website (like Dropbox, Google Drive, Adobe Cloud, etc.), generate a share link and then post it here.

Can you at least post what you see under File - Properties - Description and Security?

I think it's pretty clear what's going on... See the comment at the bottom of the Security tab.

User uses Adobe sign to get documents signed. Then opens completed/signed forms in Reader. Has been doing this for the last 2 years with no issues. This suddenly happened out of nowhere...

Are you saying the user did someting to certify the documnt? Because I am unsure if they would even have known that. They did not do anything different than usual from what they have explained to me.

Is there a fix/settings change for this to prevent it from happening again? It's not just one isolated document unfortunatetly.

They must have, yes. I recommend you contact them directly to find out what changed recently.

At any rate, there's nothing you can do about it using Reader.

Besides me having them uninstall and reinstall (in hopes of it fixing the issue) the user has not knowingly done anything different. This issue popped up once before with another user, but ended up going away on is own. Still doesnt explain why. Thanks for the replies.

so just a further note...i opened the same document on my computer using reader...it also says the same thing under properties>security tab, but i can successfully still open and save a copy of the form normally...so i dont think that is the error causing this
