Opening and saving files in protected mode on NTFS mount point

Hi,

I'm using a dokan virtual file system, which can either be mounted to a NTFS volume mount point at a given directory or as a new drive to a drive letter. When mounting the file system to an NTFS volume mount point, I can open a PDF with Adobe Reader DC (version 18.009.20050.57426 to be precise) but changes cannot be saved. When hitting the save button, Adobe Reader shows the "Save as..." dialog allowing me to overwrite the existing file without an error message, but the changes are not saved. When exiting Adobe Reader, it however warns me that changes are not saved. Also it is not possible, to open more than one PDF at the same time. When I disable the protected mode, everything works fine. In the protected mode logs, I can find the following error:

   [01:31/08:58:05] Failed to process path:C:\Users\jan\MointPoint\Test Folder\Test.pdf error code:3

Where "C:\Users\jan\MointPoint" is the NTFS volume mount point. Unfortunately, I could not find any information on what "error code:3" actually means. Can anyone maybe give me a hint on where I could find more details on that?

Another observation I've made is that when I mount the file system to a drive letter, everything is working well, even with protected mode enabled. Is there some substantial difference in the protected mode when working with files from file systems mounted to drive letters or NTFS volume mount points?

And finally, is there anything else I could do for troubleshooting apart from checking the logs?

Thank you very much for your help!
