PDF file not opening inspite of having the latest Acrobat Reader DC installed

On trying to open a pdf file using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC the following message gets displayed:-

If this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of the document, your PDF viewer may not be able to display this type of document

You can upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader for Windows®, Mac, or Linux® by visiting http://www.adobe.com/go/reader_download.

However on clicking on the above link provided for upgrade, the following dialogue box claiming "Never version already installed" gets displayed.

Continuous Release Ver 2018.009.20050.57426 is being used by me.

Please help with what needs to be done for opening the file.

It sounds like you are trying to open a pdf (possibly a form) within your web browser. If so, right-click the "link" to the pdf, save it to your computer then use File>Open from within Reader itself to open the file. Most browsers are using their own pdf viewers and not Reader. They do an especially bad job at trying to open pdf forms.

Can you describe "how" it's not working. How far did you get and what happened? Were you able to download the file to your computer like instructed? If not, what happened? If so, what happens when you try and open the pdf in Reader?
