Can anyone help? I am trying to transfer a load of pdf files from an older Windows 7 computer to a newer Windows 10. The files are saved to a CD and also to Usb stick. The contents of the disk and stick load perfectly onto the old computer but only a fraction of them will download to the new computer. Any ideas? Thanks

Please explain what step you mean by “download to the new computer” and exactly what happens when you try it. Any messages in full please.

Either by putting the disk in the disk drive or the USB stick in the port. Then clicking on the DVD RW Drive button in "My Downloads". A list of the files available then appears but the list doesn't include all the titles which appear when I follow the same procedure on the older computer.

Can you copy the files to the local disc of the new computer?

Hi Bernd. I haven't tried to copy files to the local disc. My issue seems to be that an incomplete set of files is being downloaded from the disk or stick to the new computer

Please do a comparison. Put the stick in the old computer, and count the files that you see. Then put the stick in the new computer and count the files you see. It's important to realize that they will NOT be in the DOWNLOADS folder. That is for files coming from the internet.

Yes, not downloads but on the DVD RW drive. My mistake. The old computer runs very slowly so finding the exact number is difficult but I would estimate that well below half of the files on the disk are appearing on the new computer.

If you used a DVD drive you need to Finalize it. A USB key may be easier, be sure to eject it properly.

I don't think finalizing the disk is the issue because some of the files are loading: am I right to think that none of the files would load if it weren't finalized?

Finalizing is a strange thing. Rather than counting them manually, make sure they are in the same order (alphabetical or whatever) and compare the lists. Really, we cannot help you with this unless you start looking very closely at what you are doing - and it certainly will be nothing to do with Acrobat Reader whether your files appear.
