Preview pane in windows explorer cripples copy, move etc

If the preview pane is enabled in windows explorer, moving, copying, deleting of pdf files takes several seconds or more to execute.

Task manager shows Adobe using 26% of CPU time during this period.

Disable the preview pane and moving etc is instantaneous

The time taken to display a preview can often take a long time

    I have already pointed out that disabling the preview pane speeds things up, but you are missing the point completely. Perhaps I didn't explain well enough.

    The preview pane is a very useful tool especially with renaming of pdf files where the information for renaming is contained within the file itself.

    Adobe is the default viewer and as such can take up to 2 minutes to process and display a preview which by anybodies standard is unacceptable.

    Moving, copying and deleting however don't require ANY involvement with Adobe.

    As any programmer knows these are the simplest and most basic disk commands and haven't changed much over the years.

    It may be however that windows explorer itself is responsible for involving Adobe, that I don't know.

    If that is the case, Adobe themselves stand more chance of sorting this out with Microsoft than I do
