My  computer got infected with malware a couple of days ago.  I was able to  remove the malware and restore just about everything but have had  problems with Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional since then.  I keep getting  this message: an error has been detected with a required application  library and the product cannot continue.  Please reinstall the  application.

I  have twice done a complete removal of the program and a reinstall tryng  to fix this but continue to get this error message.  I cannot view any  pdf documents.  Any suggestions on what I need to do to correct this?

Any help would be appreciated.

Since you have reinstalled, I will not bother suggesting a repair. However, I will suggest another reinstall. However, do it in this order

    1. uninstall

    2. remove all of the left over Acrobat folder (typically under Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat x.x)

    3. run CC or the MS installation cleanup utility and cleanup the registry

    4. consider running a virus scan again at this point

    5. then reinstall and hopefully that will fix it.

I've done as you indicated - uninstalled Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional.  I then ran the programs you indicated and a virus scan.  I reinstalled Adobe Acrobat and can now view pdf documents but cannot convert a document to pdf.  I did a repair through the Acrobat program and restarted computer.  I am still getting this message when trying to print to a pdf document: The instruction at "0x0045c9e5" referenced memory at "0x0191ebdc". The memory could not be "read".  Click on OK to terminate the program.

    Any suggestions?

I tried as you noted but could not open distiller to finish the process. I

    got the same error message.

If you got the file created, then at least you have homed in on the problem area. In future discussions you can indicate the error is associated with Distiller (assuming as I mentioned that the file was created correctly -- you can open it in notepad to see if it looks correct. It should simply be a text file that gives a PS version of your data.
