Adobe Reader DC

Hi All,

I need some help and advice.

A few days ago Adobe Reader DC came up with an error - 0xc0000005 and would not open.

Tried reparing then reinstalling but with no success.

I downloaded the AdobeAcroCleaner DC2015 and used that together with a registry cleaner to try and remove any traces of my previous installations.

I downloaded the AcroRdrDC1902120047_en_US.exe file and tried to install this but my system just freezes once installation commences and I have to manyally reboot the PC. Tried this several times using the cleaner and rebooting before installation.

I also tried installing the reader directly from the Adobe Acrobat page but then I get a message that Adobe Reader DC is already installed although I cannot find any traces of it.

This may be a registry issue with some fragments still remaining which I cannot trace.

Due to all the number of uninstalls and registry cleaning system restore will not work.

Any advice would be greatly apreciated.

Windows 7 Ultimate - 64bit

    Disble Data Execution Prevention for all programs and retry the Adobe Cleanup and Repair tool following the proper steps.

      Thank you for taking the time to reply. Much appreciated. You are the only one who bothered to do so.

      I disabled the data execution, ran the cleaner and tried to install Adobe Reader but with no success.

      I have run out of time now and will try something more drastic. I have a backup copy of my C drive from Acronis and will try and reinstall this. It is only a week old and if it works it will save me hours more work trying to figure this problem.

      Hi,

       

      I am sorry to read that. I did a little more research on your issue since you've mentioned Acronis.

       

      Two things that comes to mind: (1) did you upgraded Acronis software recently and then the error started manifesting?  (2) have you verified is the backup you are about to perform in your hard drives is valid?

       

      This means that you may want to update drivers, as well as reverify if the TrueImage.exe is related to 0xc0000005 exception fault.

       

      If it is related it may be as simple as trying to reinstall while offline and no antivirus software running during the reinstalltion.

       

      If I was in your shoes I would definitely want to  also slow dwith any drastic desicion and redefine your timelines after you visit the Acronis website and carefully take a look at what their company published about End of Life for Windows 7 here:

      The article emphasizes  on what Acronis users should expect during this transition and  also provide tips on how to prepare for migration  while preserving your users' data, network settings and other configurations by employing the Acronis Snap Deploy in combination with the Windows Aassessment and Deployment Kit(ADK).

       

      But going back to the exception code or error that you identified above you may want to run the Acronis Cleanup tool too.
