Adobe XI Standard Closes 10 seconds after opening document

Overnight, an issue with Adobe XI Standard closes after opening a document. Ran repair and that did not help. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First step is to update to the latest available 11.x version, which is 11.0.23.

This update link is no longer valid, but to help others who may still be running into this, here is an answer from another thread that worked. While the program is open, quickly click "Help" and then "Check for Updates". I did this on my Acrobat X Pro, and it still closed that first time, but I had updates, which were installed. After I restarted, it worked perfectly! Thanks to dlorts for the tip! PDF file shuts down automatically after 10 sec - Adobe Support Community - 10274910

That link is still valid but you can no longer open it in most browsers, as they blocked FTP access, annoyingly. You need to use a dedicated FTP application for it.
