Can't create pdf file with font calibri bold

New Here ,
Oct 31, 2016 Oct 31, 2016

I'm trying to create a PDF file from WinWord with font "Calibri bold" with print to Acrobat. I get error "Adobe PDF printer failed to create the PDF file." I get this error since a few weeks or month.

I am using Windows 10 with latest updates, Acrobat 9 Standard

This is the log output:

%%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%

Calibri-Bold not found, using Courier.

%%[ Error: invalidfont; OffendingCommand: xshow ]%%

Stack:

[97 90 45 45 98 65 0]

(       )

%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%

%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%

What I have tried to solve this issue:

- this issue occure only with the Calibri bold font. With Arial font all is ok. I reinstalled the Calibri font.

- If I generate a pdf with "save as" in word the pdf will generate without an error.

- I looked for my latest created pdf's with the Calibri bold font. The youngest pdf I found was from 17-May-2016

Thanks for help

Franz

Hi franzz66063295,

First of all Acrobat 9 was never tested on windows 10.

Secondly, are you sure you have Calibri bold installed on your machine? Also, you may go to "Devices and Printers"

right click on Adobe PDF printer choose printer preferences from Adobe PDF settings tab uncheck "Rely on system fonts; do not use documents fonts"

Regards,
Tariq Dar.

Hi Tariq,

thank you for your answer.

I know that Acrobat 9 is not officially supported on Windows 10 but it functioned a very long time on this.

Calibri bold is installed on my PC.

Now I have tested the check box "Rely on system fonts; do not use document fonts". Since I have unchecked this box it functioned perfect!

Thx

Franz

same here - this appears to be the fix! And we're using Acrobat 9 Pro on our Windows 10 Pro OS.

Sorry, I have the same configuration, but I do not find the option "Rely on system fonts; do not use document fonts."  Is it in Distiller?

LATEST

(1)     In most cases, the proper way to create PDF from Office is to use the Save as Adobe PDF function of the Acrobat PDFMaker installed with Acrobat. Don't print to the Adobe PDF PostScript printer driver instance.

(2)     Did you try the solution tagged as the correct answer earlier in this thread? Fix the settings for the Adobe PDF PostScript printer driver instance and see if that works if for some reason you can't use the Save as Adobe PDF function of Acrobat PDFMaker in Word.
