Is it possible to change the default font in the Typewriter tool to any font other than Helvetica? I would like Arial.

Hi Jmt

We are sorry for the trouble and the experience. Yes, we can change the font to Arial, also we can change the font size and color as required.

Please try the following steps:

  • Open the PDF > Go to Tools > Comment > Text Comment > Add the text you want once done click on the Close button for the comment tool > On the main screen, Double click on the text > It will give you the toolbar to change the font, size, and color of the font.

that's not the typewriter tool, that's the comment tool.

there is no typewriter tool (in the sense of Acrobat 9, where you could fill a form by clicking and typing.

combined with the inablility of the new version of Acrobat to connect to a scanner (under OSX), if you want

to scan documents, fill in the blanks and print them out, you have to use Acrobat 9.

Hi,

maybe I did not make myself clear. Of course you can use any version of Acrobat to "scan documents, fill in the blanks and print them out". My point is whether you can do it easily as with Acrobat 9. With Acrobat 9 I can scan directly from the scanner, and I simply select the typewriter icon before entering text anywhere in the scanned page.

With the current version, I cannot scan directly into Acrobat. I have two HP multi-function scanners/printers (one colour, one monochrome) and a very fast Espson DS-520. All the scanners in this office are networked (i.e. not attached via USB to my PC) which may be the problem.

None can be accessed directly from within Acrobat.

So I have to scan to a file and then open the file from within Acrobat.

Then I have to draw text boxes in order to type in text.

At least the printing part is the same.

So yes, you can do it, but is it worth the effort when you can do essentially the same thing from the OSX Preview App which allows importing scans from the networked scanners.

Go to your Preferences, and choose the Content Editing category on the left.  There are some defaults you can set there.  Maybe this will do what you need.

This would not be very useful since only a real typographer can tell the difference between these two typefaces.
