Until last week I hadn't used the comments function. Since using it everytime I open a PDF if opens the comments tool bar.
A lot of the PDFs have AutoCAD file in the rear, the comments tool autogenerates comments for these files where there are none. This can cause some PDFs to be difficulat to naviagte and slows everything down.
For example a 43 page document with no human comments has 6442 autogenerated AutoCAD comemnts.
Any ideas on how to stop the comments tool bar opening every time.

Hi Martin5E0C,
Thanks for letting us know that this is resolved.
Please note that this is a new feature: open the comment app automatically when PDF has comments.
You can disable this feature by either of the following ways:
-By disabling the Commenting Preference "Show comments pane when a PDF with comments is opened"
-By using the bezel (When comment app opens automatically and you close it within 30 seconds, a bezel is shown to retain this behaviour or not.)
Regards,
Arvind

Hello all!
Good News! The issue has been resolved, and now the preferences you set, should remain as it is, even after a restart.
Please update the app to the latest version (2024.003.20180), give it a try and let me know if it works for you.

You can disable the Preference "Show comments pane when a PDF with comments is opened".
Please follow the steps below to achieve this:
-Launch Acrobat and open Preferences dialog(use ctrl+k on Windows or cmd+k on Mac system)
-Select "Commenting" in the left pane
-Uncheck "Show comments pane when a PDF with comments is opened" option if it is checked
-Click OK to save preference and close the Preference dialog.

Arvind

Hello, I have unclicked the "show comments pane when a PDF with comments is opened" every time I use acrobat. I always click ok afterward. I close the program, restart my computer, yet the box is checked again. Please give me a solution. I don't want to see the comments pane unless I open it.

When I uncheck the box and click ok, if I go back to look at preferences, the box is already checked again by itself.

Any idea when this will be resolved? I found this thread when I was having the same issue today. I keep unchecking the auto open comments but every time I look it's checked again.

Please try resetting your application preferences.
Steps can be found here: How to reset Acrobat Preference settings to default... - Adobe Community - 4792082
Once done, open Acrobat-> uncheck the option in the preferences-> restart Acrobat
Let me know if that works.

Nope, still not fixed! I uninstalled Reader, installed the latest version, unchecked the option to show the comments pane, exited the application and relaunched it and the option to show the comments pane is checked! I then reset my application prefrences as mentioned previously, still nothing.

This is still not working. I had Adobe loaded on my computer yesterday (10/16/2024) and the check mark keeps returning on its own. Frustrating to say the least.

So I had this problem, and found that if I go to Preferences, commenting, "Pop-Up Behavior," and Uncheck "Hide comment pop-ups when Comments List is open, it works backward and doesn't open the comments section. Maybe it's a fluke-- I haven't rebooted my computer yet.
