Question

Create PDF optimized for mobile screen?

I am working on a desktop workstation.  I have a document that I created in word and saved as a PDF.  When viewed on a mobile device the text is so small as to be almost unreadable.  I just purchased Adobe Acrobat DC which the advertising says can created PDFs for mobile.

However, I have searched youtube and I have googled and I have looked at the DC help screens and I'm not finding anything that says how to make a PDF that will display in a friendly manner on a mobile device.

Can someone point me in the right direction please?

Thank you!

Hi,

Please describe what steps did you followed.

I think you've missed a step. There is an option to unembedd the document fonts when you're using the Save As Other--->Optimized PDF

Thanks.  I believe that option reduces the file size.  I need to have the PDF display properly formatted for the small mobile screen size

File reduction doesn't necessarily mean the document won't display properly in a mobile device.

When you click on Save As Other--->Optimized PDF it opens up the PDF Optimizer dialogue box.

In the "Settings" dropdown menu there is a "Mobile" category listed there.

When you select this option you have other available option settings categories:

  • Images
  • Fonts
  • Transparency
  • Discard Objects
  • Discard User Data
  • Clean Up

Each category is editable which will allow the user to define how to make the document compatible with older versions of Acrobat, for example, and other compression options.

You need to test with these settings until you get the results you're looking for, while keeping in mind that iOS devices and Android devices have different  features that may or may not handle the PDF in the same way, even though they use the same Adobe Reader Mobile app.
