Question

Disappearing headers/footers using Microsoft Word 2013 "Save to PDF" to Acrobat Pro XI.

Disappearing headers/footers using Microsoft Word 2013 "Save to PDF" to Acrobat Pro XI.  Accidentally changed a setting and can't figure out how to fix it.  Please help!  I have tried creating new documents and inserting a header then saving.  I have tried using old documents.  My headers keep disappearing when I use the "save to pdf" function.  The headers are visible in the print preview and they stay if I print to a pdf.  Please help me fix the "Save to PDF"  I don't know what setting I  changed and can't figure out how to change it back.

I'm having a similar issue. When instering the Word file to an existing PDF the headers don't show on the PDF.

Hi @marucm,

Hope you are doing well. Thanks for writing in!

In case you are still looking for a solution, we would like to know a few details:

1. The app version of Acrobat you are using;

2. The OS details;

3. The workflow you are trying to use when creating the PDF from your word document.

If you are using the Acrobat ribbon to create the file, please try the below steps:

1. Click on Acrobat ribbon in Word;

2. Click on Preferences;

3. Check the checkbox saying "Enable accessibility and reflow" and also "Enable advanced tagging."

This should add the missing tags to the document too.

Hope this helps.

I need a fix, please.  The 'Word' doc produced from Captivate's File >  Print option does not retain the header/footer that is being displayed!!! It changes to Adobe Captivate with the current date.  This is something new that is happening and I need it fixed.  Is anyone aware of this or can offer a fix?

Thanks in advance! This is important for many training documents I have to upload as reference documentation.

The Save to PDF function has been working just fine with the above said set up and same headers and document for several years while I have been at my current job.  My clumsy fingers seem to have done something that is making the headers disappear.

I have also tried using the Acrobat plug-in word and am having the same results,  disappearing headers/footers

This has nothing to do with Adobe. The "Save as PDF" function is an internal Word function.

If you want to use Acrobat to convert the Word file to PDF do it either directly from within Acrobat, or use the PDFMaker plugin in Word (under the Acrobat ribbon).
