Do PDF Portfolios Created with Adobe Acrobat DC Require Flash Player?
Hello,
With the end of Flash Player on the horizon, I would very much like an answer to this question. I have looked through the forums, but many of the discussions related to PDF Portfolios are years old. I have read elsewhere that some changes were made to how PDF Portfolios are created in recent versions of Acrobat, so I want to make sure the old answers still apply.
We are using Adobe Acrobat DC on Windows 7 Enterprise to create PDF Portfolios. Once Flash Player is no longer supported, we intend to remove it from our machines. Therefore, we do not want to continue storing files as PDF Portfolios if they are not going to be easily accessible after Flash Player is end of life and we have removed it from our machines. Therefore, I want to know: Do PDF Portfolios created with Adobe Acrobat DC require Flash Player to be opened normally? These PDF Portfolios would not contain any video files and most would be made up entirely of PDF files. Some may also contain a few Excel, Word, and Outlook files as well as PDFs.
I have read elsewhere there are ways to convert files stored as PDF Portfolios into other formats, so that the contained information is not lost. However, we do not want to store files as PDF Portfolios now, if we will just need to convert them later. Therefore, if the end of Flash Player will mean PDF Portfolios (regardless of the Acrobat version they were created on) cannot be opened normally, we want to stop using that format. We can of course combine multiple files into one PDF document or attach the other files to a single PDF document to get around using PDF Portfolios. However, neither of those methods seem as clean and easy as using PDF Portfolios, so we would prefer to keep using them if possible.
Thanks in advance for all your help!
