Errors when trying to print

New Here ,
Jul 11, 2019 Jul 11, 2019

When trying to print a 20 page PDF document, it is coming up with the following errors: "The document could not be printed", "There was an error while reading a stream", "No pages selected".

I have tried the following things: delete the Acrobat preferences folder, disable Enable Enhance Security, disabled Enable Protected Mode At Startup, changed PDF/A View Mode to 'Never'.

Please can anyone suggest anything else? This is incredibly frustrating and the Adobe Support won't help.

Hey Loisr,

Sorry to hear about the frustrating experience.

Since you are getting "No page selected" error, while printing the PDF, may I know the exact Adobe application you are working with? I believe its a freeware Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, but I doubt it could be Acrobat DC too?

Since it hasn't made any difference by changing the preferences settings. You may try these steps further-

1- Open the PDF file in Adobe Reader and when you go to print Click advanced at the bottom of the Print Dialog box. In the next Dialog Box select Print As Image and click OK.

Note- In some instances, a PDF file can contain damaged content such as images or fonts that cannot be rendered by Acrobat during the printing process, causing this error to occur. Choosing Print As Image bypasses that rendering operation by sending the printer a rasterized image of the document.

2- This error could also be caused by damaged Acrobat preferences or outdated/corrupt printer drivers. There maybe specific printer driver issues on your system which may require you to troubleshoot the drivers with the printer manufacturer.”

3-Open the PDF file in any program that can save PDFs (Acrobat DC). Then select File > Save As > from the menu. Now look at the dropdown menu below the world filename. Select the type PDF/A. Now save as a different file name. You can now open that new file and Print!

Or File >Print>print to "Adobe PDF">Save a new file. This would recreate the PDF, now open the new one and try to print. (Print to Adobe PDF only works with Acrobat DC not Reader DC)

Note- This is useful for a quick solution and can fix issues when the issue is with the file itself. If the file is damaged (just a little) a new saved file will repair the issue.

If any of the solution provided above will work, please do share the update with us.

Thanks,

Akanchha
