Question

How best to protect a stamped drawing

I am an engineer who produces stamped documents and drawings in pdf format. I need to ensure that the file cannot be changed after I stamp it, but I also need to allow anyone to view and print the stamped document at any time. I cannot use a distribution list as I have no way of knowing where my clients will choose to print their drawings.

What is the best way to accomplish what I need?

Thanks for your help.

Hi There,

Apologies for the delay in response, I hope you would be able to fix it by now.

As you want to protect the stamped drawings in PDF format once they are stamped and would also like to view and print the files any time after the protection. This can be accomplished by Adobe Acrobat DC, you may try the following steps:

  • Open the document with Adobe Acrobat DC>Right Click>Select Document Properties. or Ctrl+K  (windows)
  • Under the Security tab>Security Method and select Password security.
  • Under the Permissions Check Mark>Restrict editing and printing of the document>Printing Allowed>High Resolution.
  • Set the Permission Password and click OK.
Note: Never share the permission password with anyone you may note it for your reference.
  • Keep everything else to default.
  • The document is now secured with permissions only to view and print.

Let us know how this goes for you.

Regards,

Amal

Hello,

is this the only way to protect a PDF with the stamp?

I know that, if I sign a PDF document, the sign will be "included" in the PDF and it can not be removed.

It should the same way for a stamp.

Can you please give me your feedback? Many thanks.
