Adobe Acrobat Pro DC & Reader DC (64bit Installer)

Can someone please point me in the direction of the x64 installer for Adobe Acrobat Pro DC?  Unfortunately, someone decided it would be a good idea to make this invisible to the public.

Thanks in advance!

Here's the latest from Adobe – it's now widely available and supported:

"You can download the Acrobat 64-bit installers from this page by clicking the appropriate download button below. After the download is complete, follow the installation steps below to begin the installation."

[Previously:

"Currently, Acrobat DC 64-bit for Windows is available in the following geographies - Australia, Brazil, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, and the UK. We plan to add more geographies in the coming months."]

And why is the macOS version, already 64-bit since 2019 if not 2015, still showing the Navigation pane on the left and the Tools pane on the right? Is this to be a mac vs windows thing where opposite sides of the interface are used? Will it change with a near-future update?

January 30, 2023:

It sure would be nice to have an update on this 32-bit versus 64-bit thing. As of today, the Creative Cloud app only delivers the 32-bit version. The online new features simultaneously declares an end to 32-bit support for this very month of January 2023. That seems at conflict, factually. Do any of you smart folks have an update?

Mike,

It's strange because Adobe's help page (last updated on Sep 15, 2022) no longer gives any geographic boundaries to using the Acrobat 64-bit version:

So not sure why it wouldn't also be available to deliver to qualifying systems via the Desktop app.

I noticed that, too. I did download the 64-bit version and manually installed it. All I had to do was remove the 32-bit version first. Seems to work fine, although why Acrobat has swapped Navigation pane and Tools pane left for right seems needlessly confusing.

I am left wondering, when will the CC App offer the 64-bit as an upgrade option? Will it force the 64-bit transition as an available patch? Will CC App people see an upgrade, and suddenly they have been changed up from 32 to 64? Seems like Adobe Acrobat would explain it better than this.

How do I update Acrobat to 64 bit from 32 bit?

Is there on the part of Adobe a plan for the introduction of a 64bit versionunder Windows10, then?

As an enterprise of rolling stock, we partly produce very big data sets in the development. It is an idea already followed up for a long time to replace the conventional 2-D drawings by a 3D-PDF enriched with necessary information, which then the following processes can be provided - ideally with a freely accessible viewer.

32-bit applications come very fast to their capacity limits.

Investigations from us are showing, that the 32bit-Reader loses the graphical information from a certain size of data (about 200-300MB filesize).

The PDF can be retrieved, but whren we activate the 3D-information (directX) it tooks very long time, and either the 32bit-Reader crashes (not responding),or the graphic area remains black.

Because this effect, however, appears only at bigger files, we suspect the cause at 32 bit - application.

If you have another idea of solution, however, of course we are also very interested in it.

If you would be willing to share a file that crashes Acrobat Pro on Windows due to size or complexity, we would be glad to examine what is going on and determine whether the issue is truly an address space issue (i.e. 32-bit versus 64-bit), a software bug, a problem with the PDF file itself, or something else. We would maintain full confidentiality. Please contact me via private message on these forums with a pointer to such a file and I will gladly pursue this.

FWIW, I have personally opened up exceptionally complex, graphic arts-based PDF files of over 500 megabytes in size and upwards of 100,000 pages with Acrobat Pro on Windows without any crashes. That is not saying that a problem of crashing (or other anomalies) due to running out of 32-bit address space couldn't happen, but I would really like to see examples to make the case for 64-bit. Note for the record, that Acrobat doesn't attempt to read the entire PDF file into memory at one time and thus, the file size itself wouldn't be the governing factor. On the other hand, an exceptionally large and graphically-complex single page PDF file just might be an issue.

Again, we would like to work with you to track down the problem (and perhaps make the case of 64-bit Acrobat on Windows sooner rather than later). Thanks for your assistance.

          - Dov

PS:     I think you can reasonably assume that there will be 64-bit Acrobat/Reader for Windows. The question is priority and when.

Acrobat clearly includes many 64 bit components, since it integrates with the 64-bit Windows shell and 64-bit Microsoft Office.

If you have a specific problem in using the Acrobat SDK I suggest you post the details in the Acrobat SDK forum, where you're most likely to find experts in this area.

You didn't say what platform you are on, MacOS or Windows, but ...

MacOS — Acrobat DC is entirely 64-bit at this point. The installer is 64-bit; you have no choice!

Windows — Acrobat DC is still entirely 32-bit. Thus, there is only a 32-bit installer; again you have no choice!

Hi Dov, I just want to be sure I heard what you are saying properly. Are you saying there isn't a 64 bit Adobe Pro DC?  Can you clarify for me.

That is exactly what he is saying.
