Question

How do I remove the password protection? (I have the password but want to remove it)

I receive files with password protection. I know the password and open them but don't want to give the password every time I open them, so I want to save the file removing the password. I can always "print to PDF" but this is quite annoying 🙂

In Acrobat, go to File - Properties - Security and select No Security. Enter the password, press Close and then save the file and close it.

The next time you open it you'll not be prompted for a password.

I went there and see "Security Method: Password Security", but there is no place that I can click "no security" or actually change anything. It is completely read-only, even when I go to the "show details" screen.

Sounds like you're using the free Reader. You need Acrobat to be able to do it.
