my Adobe reader shows the following in red on the header 'Unlicensed printer. License is needed. How do I remove this?

Where exactly does this how up? This is not a message that Reader (or Adobe Acrobat) puts up - at least I am not aware of where it would come from. If it's on the printed output, it's very likely something that is created by the printer driver. If it's on the PDF file that you display in Reader, it is part of the PDF file, and was very likely added by a PDF generator that was not correctly licensed (e.g. because it is running in evaluation mode).

Uninstall the unlicensed product (Acrobat DC?). That will get rid of the message.
Sorry, this answer is relevant. I got confused because I thought the message was appearing with the printer...

Actobat doesn’t do that. May be related to a product called Authentisign.
