Question

I can't mark up or make notes on PDFs on Acrobat for iPad

I would like to be able to use the draw funciton to highlight and mark up PDFs on my iPad using my apple pencil. I am able to mark up PDFs on my computer with Acrobat DC, but when I transfer those same PDFs to my iPad it says that "this file can't be modified". I have Acrobat Pro, so it should work on both devices, but I can't figure it out.

Hi there

We are sorry for thre toruble. As described you are unable to mark up or make notes on PDF on iPad using Acrobat.

Is this a behavior with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check.

Please try  to select text instead of highlighting text. If you cannot select text at all (no matter how hard you try), your PDF document is likely a scanned PDF. You can only add Text Markup annotations (Highlight, Underline, Strikeout) to real text, not to image of text. You need to run OCR (Optical Character Recognition- available with Adobe Acrobat DC)  to turn images of text into real text.

Let us know how it goes

Regards

Amal
