Losing Highlighting Exporting PDFs to Microsoft Onenote

OS: Mac HighSierra

Adobe Acrobat XI

Does anyone have a solution that allows me to export PDF into Onenote as a single document while keeping my highlights?

When I paste a PDF into Microsoft Onenote that has been marked up with highlights, the highlights are lost/they do not appear.  The only workaround I have found is saving the PDF as jpeg but that breaks the document up because each pdf page saves as its own jpeg.
