Select the measuring tool, then right-click anywhere in the PDF to view the options - "Change Scale Ratio".

Yes, but what if the change scale ratio is not there when I right click?

What version of Acrobat are you using?

I had the same  problem but believe it is resolved by:

  • right click and select preferences.
  • then in 2D measuring preferences, un-check "Use Scale and Units from Document (when present)".
  • Then go back to .pdf where you want to measure and right click does produce the expected "Change Scale Ratio and Precision".

THANK YOU. This tool was driving me mad. Your step should be noted ahead of the procedure to access the change ratio box. Because on its own, you can right click over the measurement all day and get nothing but frustration. What a ridiculous tool. Why not a scale button?

Hi - - - I just tried that solution but could not get the chenge scale dialouge box to some up.  Has there been an update in the software that has changed this.  BTW last time i used the "measure" function it was fine and the chenge scale dialouge came up ok.  Any thoughts?

Chaps - Sorry to say, but i think the probelm above might have been due to an update waiting to be engaged when the PC was restarted.  After restart and update the measure tool and scaling worked fine. - Dont want to waste anyones time!

Thank you.

to get the annoying change scale ratio option on the screen:(1) press the ruler icon. (2) drag a dimension over your known dimension on the drawing. (3) highlight the new dimension. (4) find the pop up menu that opened (hopefully) when you picked the ruler icon and click on the first icon in "measurement types" (5) right click on your highlighted dimension. The option should appear at the top of the list. This works consistently for me as I use it on different drawings daily.
