I have an interactive pdf form that was created from InDesign and finished in Acrobat. The main body of text uses the Frutiger font family and is embedded in the pdf. I can edit the content, with Acrobat, using Frutiger. Frutiger shows up in the “Edit Pdf”, “Format" tool bar in the font drop down list. However when I go to "Prepare Form”, “Text Field Properties", “Appearance” and click on the font drop down list, Frutiger is NOT there. Yes, Frutiger is installed and I am using MAC OSX.12.6 with Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2018.011.20038. Can anyone explain to me why Acrobat is not seeing this font in the text field properties and what the fix would be? Thanks.

In order to use a font that you have installed with a form field, the font license has to allow at least editable embedding. Some font are more restrictive than this and Acrobat will not allow you to select such fonts for use with form fields. I suspect this is the source of your problem.

Thank you for your kind response. I am aware of the licensing restrictions for fonts. Generally, if a font can not be embedded it will still show in the Text Field Properties, Appearance drop down list. However if you click on a font that can't be embedded it will tell you "The selected font cannot be embedded in the PDF file because of licensing restrictions...". The font shows in one drop down list (when you use "Edit Pdf") and doesn't show in the other (when in "Prepare Form"). It simply disappears. In theory the font lists should be the same regardless of their location. So why is the font disappearing?
