On opening PDF get error: imslib not found

I recently installed a trial of Adobe Acrobat DC. Everytime I open a PDF I get the following error "Installation problem: IMSLib not found. Acrobat services will not work". I then click "ok" then get another error "configuration error, please uninstall and reinstall the product. Error 16."

I just completely uninstalled the product and reinstalled it 3 times and get the same error.

If it helps, I am on an ASUS model 7265ngw

uninstall everything cc including preferences, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-remove-app.html

then uninstall the cc desktop app, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html

clean your computer of cc files per http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html

rename your oobe folders

restart your computer (don't skip this)

reinstall the cc desktop app, https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud. (if you have a win os, right click the exe > click 'run as administrator'.

use the desktop app to install your cc programs/trials in their default locations on your c drive.
