Question

password protect mass print

we use an erp system which allows us to generate PDF output instead of hard copies .

the printer setups are client and server - but usually client print drivers are used

obviously we had apdf as an option

we however run a mass print/email job that sends customers their statments and would like to password protect these as they go out

since it is an automatic process - we are wondering where the password protect controls would need to be setup and run

thanks in advance

Are you using the Adobe PDF printer? Do you want to apply the same password to all files?

I believe we ARE using Adobe – but I will check and reply back if we are NOT

I expect we  would LIKE to personalize the password to each output – and since it comes from a data base we could pull some customer value as a variable

We are also looking at sending out sales reports in this fashion

however, I expect the easiest would be to apply the same password to all files; that may at least get us to the point where there is some protection

thank you for your reply

- I haven't really tried it. I think you can set it once and then it's re-used in the future. Give it a try...

- I have developed such tools, as command-line applications where you can specify the owner and user passwords, and even which permissions to extend, the encryption level, etc. These tool can be used to process an entire folder of PDF files in a single process.

If you're interested feel free to contact me privately (try6767 at gmail.com) and we could discuss it further, including price.

Will do.

And, yes after we get our capability and requirements confirmed, for what we can and cannot do, we will surely consider your custom options.

Thank you for the information
