Question

Please help. Can't enter text in IRS Form W-9.

I'm using Acrobat Reader DC

Fill and Sign doesn't do anything. I can't get to any text writing tools. This is the IRS Form W-9 from their website. I can fill in active windows, but can't enter a new signature and date.

Would also like to add a second signature without deleting one that is already there. Window allows me to delete all, but not add.

Thanks

There's an app W9FORM that allows you to sign and date using your phone.  Pretty handy and simple.

Necroposting here but nonetheless. This is a common issue and the key is, you should check if you download exactly the fillable form template but not the example of a form (its font color is red). Also, you can fill it with the IRS website and send it right away, as well as with the tool by PDFfiller to fill and edit W-9's. There is a little difference between two of them. The second one is paid, yet more stable during the tax periods

This seems to be by design, the IRS does not expect you to sign electronically. W-9 is not filed with the IRS but sent to a requestor. You should ask them what they expect you to do, but it's very likely they expect you to print, sign with a pen, and post it in an envelope. Others may recommend an online filing service, but some will reject such forms. You need to liaise.
