Prevent content text fields from being merged

Acrobat DC seems to arbitrarily take text content fields and merge them together as one text content object when they seem to be in close proximity together.

Is it possible to prevent this "merging"? Or how can I "unmerge" when it does happen?

What you're describing happens when you edit static text, not form fields. And no, it can't be prevented.

For regular editing this is expected. There are no text boxes in a PDF. Acrobat puts them in by guesswork. Move text together it's going to be one box. This is one reason why text editing a PDF is a desperate last resort, and not a normal thing to do regularly.

2 fields sharing the same name shares the same content.

For merging your forms you have 2 choices:

- flaten fields before merging.

- merge forms into a PDF-Portfolio.
